This phase is focused on creativity development through movie making, specifically through the implementation of the two steps that define creative thinking according to Eduard de Bono: divergent and convergent thinking.
Divergent thinking may be defined as the process of creating multiple, unique ideas or solutions to a challenge that the participant is facing. The challenge, in this case, is the production of a short movie from scratch, by using the know-how gained during the Learning Phase. This phase pursues a considerable number of proposals, without considering practical aspects, available budget, technical skills etc., with the aim to unleash the participants’ imagination and fantasy (brain’s right hemisphere). The produced ideas are not evaluated yet, they are simply recorded.
Convergent thinking, on the other hand, identifies the process to select and/or modify and/or merge the produced ideas on the basis of pragmatic issues, available resources and timing. It can be referred to as the “logical” component of the creative process (brain’s left hemisphere).
In the early stages of the Divergent/Convergent phase (Sept/Oct 2025), with the aim to simplify the implementation and maximise participation, the overall process will be carried out at each school separately. During the final stages (Nov/Dec 2025), the students will implement it in coordination with their peers abroad, so that the same selected ideas will be developed differently at each education centre, according to their creativity skills, sensibility and culture.
The produced movies will be in the local language with English subtitles during September and October 2025, but they will gradually introduce English conversations throughout November and December 2025.
The collaboration among the participants from the three countries will take place via Twinspaces. The results will be published on the eTwinning project and the short movies will be included in the project YouTube channel and app.
