The App Design was completed in September 2026. The reason behind the delay is that the development of the App required more time from the students than had been originally estimated during the planning phase of the project activities. In particular, compared to the activities scheduled and presented in the report, phase 2.2 required more time than originally estimated. Once the reference analysis of existing streaming platforms was completed on time, the students and the teacher began experimentation and prototyping. Considering the actual timelines, school hours, and the other projects in which the students are involved, it became clear that the weekly meetings held during April and May—also taking into account the class’s absence due to participation in an international mobility program for PCTO and in a study trip—would not be sufficient to complete the planned work and deliver a fully functional App. It was therefore decided to engage the students until the end of the school year in order to finalize the design of an initial App that interfaces with YouTube to display a video, which they will work on producing during the first month of the following school year. It should also be emphasized that the delay in delivery was necessary to ensure that the students—the true protagonists of the process—could acquire the appropriate and essential tools to be able to carry out the work in complete autonomy.
The App was developed throughout the following phases:
2.1 First Phase – Introduction and Planning: Presentation of the project to the students. Definition of the objectives and main features of the app. Reference analysis of existing streaming platforms.
2.2 Experimentation and Prototyping: Creation of a first app that interfaces with YouTube to view a video. Development of tutorials with slides and resources to guide students in the creation process. Graphic design activity of the app layout through Canva.
2.3 Organization of Work: Planning of weekly meetings every Friday. Involvement of the English teacher and the computer lab teacher for technical and linguistic support.
2.4 Testing Phase: the app teams and the pupils/students at every school started working collaboratively on the design of the final app, emulating the structure of online streaming platforms like Netflix, HBO or Amazon Prime. The audio-visual material will be divided into sections depending on their language (English, Italian, Spanish or Slovakian), their format (short movie or serie) and their type (documentary, drama, comedy etc.).
